Your guide to the
104th annual
Rosebud-Treasure County Fair
There's something for everyone at the
Rosebud-Treasure County Fair! Here's a rundown
of what you will find at the fair, but please note
that we're still finalizing schedules and going over
entertainment options, so more information will be
added as we get it. You can also watch our Facebook
page.
Start
your fair days early with the annual Search &
Rescue Breakfast,
sponsored by Rosebud County Search & Rescue.
A hearty breakfast of pancakes, sausage and eggs is served under the canopy next to
the Exhibition Hall.
Thursday, July 19, the Yellowstone River Rumble
will take center stage in front of the grandstand,
with the best local contenders in Mixed Martial Arts
competitions. At least one pro bout will be on the
card too. When we first presented this event in 2009,
over 800 people filled the stands, so come early to
get a good seat. Grandstand seats and ringside
tables are available. Tickets will be available at
the grandstand box office.
On
Friday, July 20,
plan to be here for our 3rd annual Ranch Rodeo!
Come and watch local talent compete against
contestants from around the region in events such as
wild cow milking, team doctoring, bronc riding and
much more. The action is fast, unpredictable,
competitive, and often hilarious. It all begins at
7:00 PM
on Friday in the
grandstand. Tickets will be available in the fair
office and online.
On
Saturday night, country music returns to the Fair stage with the
legendary Tanya Tucker,
whose hits include "Delta Dawn," "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane,"
"San Antonio Stroll," "What's Your Mama's Name," "Here's Some
Love," and over three dozen more. You're sure to hear a
lot of songs you love at this great show, Saturday, July 21 at 8:00 PM in the
grandstand. Tickets for the
concert will be on sale by the end of April, both at the fair office and
online. (Click the "Tickets" logo on our home page to buy tickets online
when they go on sale.)
Grandstand
entertainment will topped off with the annual Demolition Derby,
sponsored by the Forsyth American Legion. The Derby
starts at 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon, July 22.
Demolition Derby tickets are
sold at the Fair boxoffice and online.
The Mighty Thomas
Carnival makes another return to our midway with
classic and modern rides to keep the kids busy all
weekend, and games galore too. We've also received
confirmation that the carnival will be bringing the
Zipper back this year, so get ready to ride till you
drop. Carnival wristband
pre-sales will begin in early spring in the fair
office and will end on Tuesday, July 17.
For country music
lovers, Montana's own Copper Mountain Band will be
providing several shows on the free stage and they'll also open
the show for Tracy Lawrence on Saturday night. Our new location
for the free stage near the concession area proved to be a major
hit in 2010, and the CMB will do late evening shows on Friday
and Saturday, so the party should last well into the night.
For
magic fans, Forsyth's own Keith Raymond will being his
ever-growing collection of large and small illusions to our free
stage. Keith will also do some strolling magic and balloon
twisting, and he's also promised to bring the "ABC Gumball
Recombobulator" which will make the kids very happy!
Also by popular
demand, hypnotist
Tammy Harris-Barton
returns to our fair for the third time. Her show is clean, high energy, and best of
all, fun for audience members and "volunteers" alike.
Tammy will do two or three shows each day of the fair, so get
your friends together and get hypnotized.
The smaller kids
will love Curly's Funtastic Kid Zone, a free shaded
supervised play-area that has just four rules: Be Safe, Be Kind,
Be Neat, and Be Fun! Over a dozen different games and activities
will keep the kids busy for hours while the adults tour the
exhibition
hall, visit with friends, or wander over
to the concession area for food and refreshments. The Kid Zone
will be open 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM each day of the fair. In
addition, Uncle Curly the Clown will entertain young and
old alike with his zany antics and balloon animals. The Fun Zone
will be located on the west end of the midway near the front
gate. You never know where Uncle Curly will show up, so keep
your eyes peeled!
You can also
play Lions Club Bingo next to the concession
stand in late afternoons during the fair. (Please
call the office for bingo times.)
Sunday
morning, Gospel music will return to the fair in a free
performance courtesy of the Johnson Brothers
band. Relax under the big tent and be inspired.
Show time is 9:30 AM.
Of
course the best part of the fair is socializing
and meeting old and new friends. To make the good
times roll, all you need is "fair food." Not only do
we have the
4-H concessions featuring those famous
fair-burgers,
there is an array of other food vendors including
Thomas Carnival's Midway Grill, featuring
burgers, fries, corndogs and funnel cakes, and the
Cola Corner in the Exhibition Hall sponsored
by Forsyth FFA, featuring homemade goodies.
Visit the Exhibition
Hall and view 4-H and open class entries and
plenty of commercial exhibits; and take in the 4-H Market
Stock Sale, featuring "Take a Buyer to Dinner"
on Saturday. The Young Men's Club Beer Booth
will be open all four days. There are more food vendors yet to
be named, so come and see what you can find. Watch
this website and our Facebook page for updates as
they happen.
There
are other attractions and events not listed here, so
make plans now to spend a day or two at the
fairgrounds. It all
adds up to one of the best county fairs around,
and it all comes with free gate admission and no
parking fees! We hope to see you this July.
